Our 12x18 2025 lunar calendar was hand illustrated by Rachael Kinsey and individually screen printed on watercolor paper by Patti Hazlett. Rachael was inspired by the transformative energy of the luna moth when illustrating 2025's calendar. The luna moth only lives for a week and is born without a mouth so it cannot eat. They are born, transtorm, love, die, and are again reborn. Their cycles are short, as are our own years. They remind us make the most of our moments and live life to the fullest.
Like the moon, humans emotionally and physically follow the same phases. As the moon needs to recede, withdraw, and renew each month, so do we. We travel across different emotional states the same way the moon travels around the earth. The more attuned we are to these phases and how they affect us, the better we can harness the different energies, rather than wasting energy fighting against them.
Much like the caterpillar's metamorphosis, we may at times feel life our guts are being ripped apart, turning to mush before our eyes. This is an opportunity to imagine, transform, and create the world we want to see. How can we fill in our own blank canvases with our most colorful dreams?
we loved painting our lunar calendars with watercolors, but any paint or makers will work well! For texture, add salt to the wet paint and metallic paint for some extra shimmer!
